Tragic and shocking news came out today, that child star Lil’ Chris had died at the young age of 24. Known best (by me) for Checkin’ It Out – his first single released in 2006 – he was also in Rock School and later went onto act in James Bourne’s musical Loserville.
It is suspected from old tweets on his Twitter account (@CJHardman) that he had been suffering from depression, but it is unknown yet whether this was the cause of his death. A post-mortem is to be carried out to identify what the cause was, but it is not being treated as suspicious. Reports have stated that it was very sudden, and police were called to a house in Suffolk on Monday.
Since the news was announced today, tributes and messages have been posted on Twitter from shocked fans, friends and celebrities.
The McBusted boys have tweeted their sadness at losing such a talent at such a young age. Lil’ Chris supported McFly on their tour ‘Up Close and Personal’ and it seems they’ve been friends ever since. James Bourne also shared his loss.
Many people can’t believe the news. For those like me, who remember listening to Checkin’ It Out during their childhood, this is shocking news. We grew up with Lil’ Chris, and this news is devastating. It’s just upsetting to know that someone who grew up with us, as he was a kid when he started, has died, and so suddenly.
Incredibly sad news. Thoughts are with his family and friends.
RIP Lil Chris x // Beth
